Data Management/Storage* Submit Products * KeyPointThe KeyPoint line from RedCannon is targeted to mobile employees, and is billed as a means of securing the employee's laptop, or perhaps removing the need for laptops entirely. Instead, the employee takes a small USB device with them that, when plugged into any Windows 2000/XP machine, provides secure endpoint features to that machine including stealth Web browsing, local (USB) storage of E-mail content, and VPN connectivity. The USB device launches automatically (the user needn't install anything on the host computer), and when the device is removed the vendor notes that no traces of user activity remain on the machine. As such, the user could conceivably make use of kiosks, public terminals, or other Internet access points to access the corporate network. At the heart of the KeyPoint offerings is the USB dongle itself, called KeyPoint Access. This USB device houses multiple applications that together enable secure use of a public host computer, including authentication (via RSA SoftID one time password generation and OATH), VPN client, stealth browser (cookies and temporary files are stored on the USB, not on the host), spyware detection and optional removal, Citrix Client software, and encrypted storage that protects files (AES 256) that are dragged/dropped into a secure vault. In concert with the management tools (see below), information can also be pushed to the KeyPoint Access automatically, allowing for document distribution and usage auditing of the devices. For those who require only the encrypted storage capabilities of the device and not the secure endpoint utilities, the vendor offers KeyPoint Vault. Finally, KeyPoint Alchemy provides central management tools, including the ability to provision, update, or remotely wipe individual KeyPoints based on administrator defined policies. Other capabilities include password recovery, password and encryption policy enforcement, and compliance reporting based on audited usage of the devices. KeyPoint Alchemy additionally allows for the transformation of any USB flash drive into a KeyPoint Access dongle. New to the vendor's KeyPoint product arsenal is the KeyPoint Data Leak Prevention Kit, which itself consists of two product offerings pre-installed on Lexar Lightening USB sticks: KeyPoint Solo Vault (a stand alone version of KeyPoint Vault that is not managed centrally, and thus does not include features like remote data wipe or audit reporting), for encryption; and KeyPoint Port Control, which restricts the use of flash drives on USB ports and can also require the presence of RedCannon software on the drive. With KeyPoint Port Control, specific USB devices can be whitelisted, and unauthorized uses can be blocked. The base pricing for the Data Leak Prevention Kit is $2,800 for 25 users including the software and the sticks. The KeyPoint product line is available now. KeyPoint Access is priced at $90/seat, while KeyPoint Vault is priced at $50/seat. KeyPoint Alchemy is priced at $2,500 for each 5,000 seats.
