The SimpleTech product line from Fabrik includes, among other products, a line of external drives for use with Windows or Mac PCs ranging in capacity from 160 GB in the smallest Signature Mini drive to a potential 2 TB in the Duo Pro Drive. The drives each feature included backup software from the vendor as well as 2 GB of the vendor's online storage product Fabrik Ultimate Backup.

On the low end of the external drive product offerings are the Signature Mini drives, which ship in multiple colors and range in capacity from 160 GB now to 500 GB. The drives are powered by the USB bus itself; special Y-USB cables are included to ensure that enough power is available to the drives (i.e., using two of the PCs USB ports). A three year warranty and the vendor's Joggle digital content management tool are also included.

Next in the product line-up is the newest entry in the product family, the [re]drive. The [re]drive ships in a recycle-friendly bamboo and aluminum casing and with a minimum of packaging materials, and additionally features the ability to automatically power on/off with the computer itself. Offered with a 500 GB capacity, the [re]drive ships with a 1 year warranty and a Turbo USB 2 interface (for Windows; the vendor lists the Mac Turbo USB 2 interface as "coming soon").

Also newly updated is the vendor's SimpleDrive offering, which also ships with a Turbo USB 2 interface (Windows, see above) and is available in capacities from 250 GB to 1 TB. The SimpleDrive ships with built-in cooling vents and a 1 year warranty.

The Pro Drive and Duo Pro Drives are at the top end of the vendor's external drive offerings, with support for USB 2.0, FireWire (400/800), or eSATA connectivity (FireWire not available on the Duo Pro). The Pro Drive is a single drive that ships in capacities from 500 GB to 1 TB; while the Duo Pro Drive includes two drives (in a single enclosure) and capacities up to 2 TB. The Duo Pro Drive additionally features built-in RAID data protection (0 or 1).

The SimpleTech drives are available now. The new [re]drive is priced at about $160; while the Minis and SimpleDrives start at about $100 (for 160 and 320 GB, respectively).
