Dbvisit implements automated Oracle Standby Database without Data Guard and without the need to upgrade to Enterprise Edition. According to the vendor, it has all the features of Data Guard including Graceful Switchover, and it supports Oracle RAC, ASM, OMF, etc. All versions of Oracle--both 32 and 64 bit--are supported.

An additional target use of Dbvisit is the offloading of processing loads from the primary database to the standby database. For example, your standby database can be used to run large reports which would otherwise impact your primary database; or backup your database in the middle of the day from your standby database. Dbvisit automates the switching between a standby database and a reporting database.

Dbvisit compresses the archive logs before they are replicated to the Oracle standby database.
