CYA Technologies' product line focuses on the backup and recovery of object-level data and meta-data specifically in Enterprise Content Management (ECM) systems. Billed as a complement to existing disaster recovery infrastructure, the vendor's products are currently offered for the EMC Documentum, IBM FileNet P8, and Open Text Livelink ECM - eDOCS Suite. The core product of the portfolio--CYA SmartRecovery--is available for each of these platforms; while the additional tools CYA SmartReplicator, CYA Connector, and the new CYA Recycle Bin are currently offered only for EMC Documentum.

In contrast to disaster recovery platforms that focus on the saving and restoration of complete systems, the CYA product line focuses on the recovery of partial data losses in the ECM; such as may occur from programmatic errors, user errors, data corruption, etc. The core CYA SmartRecovery application provides this capability primarily to help desks, allowing them to restore granular data to the ECM system in intervals as small as 15 minutes.

In brief: CYA SmartRecovery integrates with the ECM components themselves to enable the automated capture of data at preset intervals. A key feature of the platform is its ability to capture not only content data, but additionally capture any and all related meta-data in relation to the content in a synchronized, one-pass operation. This synchronized data can then be restored as needed by system administrators without having to perform a full ECM content repository backup and without having to bring down the ECM itself. Additional options allow for the recovery of specific and discrete objects such as audit trails, groups, and users; the ability to honor record retention policies (so that expired records can additionally be removed from CYA capture sets); and an included Data Integrity Module that checks the integrity of repository objects for potential corruption.

Additional tools in the CYA product portfolio provide extended partial data recovery support for ECM systems, including:

- CYA SmartReplicator, which leverages CYA SmartRecovery and provides near real-time asynchronous replication from production to standby server repositories, with fail over and fail back features

- CYA Connector, which provides operators with the ability to manage CYA SmartRecovery capture sets on secondary storage (such as SATA arrays), including the archival, compression, and automatic retrieval of older capture sets

- CYA Recycle Bin, the newest tool in the suite, a self-service tool enabling individual users to recover accidentally deleted documents or folders in the ECM system without requiring help desk assistance. Deleted items remain in the CYA Recycle Bin until they are restored or themselves deleted; the latter can occur either manually from the user or administrator, or automatically as the result of them exceeding an administrator defined retention period

The CYA product line is available now; all the products are available for EMC Documentum, with SmartRecovery additionally available for IBM FileNet P8, and Open Text Livelink ECM - eDOCS Suite (note that not all described features may be available in all ECM platforms).
