Discovery Recovery (DR) is file recovery software that will recover lost and accidentally deleted files from any disk drive or media, even if corrupted or reformatted. DR can be copied and run from anywhere, including memory sticks, without needing installation. The vendor states that you don't even need to register to be able to recover files up to 1mb (register and there are no limits). To use, just copy the file and click "go."

Discovery Recovery will read NTFS and FAT variants (where present and intact) and can forensically scan for additional files by analyzing file signatures. DR also uses pattern recognition to locate even more potentially recoverable files. Scanning technology identifies drive areas populated with unallocated data, enabling Discovery Recovery to cope with large drives.

Other features include searching and recovery of specific files, sorting and recovery of whole groups of files, and a viewer so you can see file contents, images etc.

The unregistered version has no time limitations or expiry date.
