Celerity

1 to 4 Port FC HBAs in 2Gb/4Gb/8Gb

ATTO Technology's Celerity product line consists of a line of Host Bus Adapter cards that provide Fibre Channel connectivity to servers and devices. Multiple cards are available in the line, providing from 1 to 4 total FC ports and offering communication speeds of 2 Gb/sec, 4 Gb/sec, and in the latest card offerings, 8 Gb/sec.

Common to each of the cards is the inclusion of the vendor's Advanced Data Streaming (ADS) technology, which consists of and combines such features as an embedded RISC processor, Bus Mastering, Tagged Command Queuing (allows multiple I/O command to be processed in any order), and optimization algorithms for workgroup applications such as Digital Video, Digital Audio and prepress to optimize data transfer. Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X drivers are listed as available for the cards (see vendor for card-specific driver availability), and the cards themselves are served in PCI Express, PCI-X, and PCI flavors.

Currently available cards in the line include:

- FC-21PS: A single channel 2 Gb/sec card in a PCI format (66 MHz). The FC-21PS supports operation as both an initiator and a target.

- FC-41XS/FC-42XS: Single and dual channel 4 Gb/sec cards in PCI-X formats.

- FC-41EL: A single channel 4 Gb/sec card in PCI Express (x4) format. The FC-41EL is a low profile card (high and low profile brackets are included) that supports initiator mode only (no target support).

- FC-41ES/FC-42ES/FC-44ES: Single, dual and quad channel 4 Gb/sec cards in PCI Express formats (the single and dual channel cards are x4, the quad channel is x8). All cards support target and initiator modes.

- FC-81EN/FC-82EN/FC-84EN: Single, dual, and quad channel 8 Gb/sec cards delivered over an 8 lane PCI Express 2.0 card (backward compatible to PCIe 1.1). Other than the 8 Gb/sec port speeds, card features include "proven" aggregate speeds of up to 3200 MB/sec for reads or writes and support for the SNIA API.

Standard pricing for the line starts at $695 (FC-21PS); with the new FC-84EN listed at $3995.
