The NTS-150 is an Ethernet based device that broadcasts an accurate time signal to other devices on the Ethernet network, allowing all network devices to be accurately time synchronized. According to information supplied by the vendor, the NTS-150 can keep thousands of clients (servers, routers, workstations, etc.) synchronized to within 10 milliseconds of one another.
The NTS-150 retrieves its time from atomic clocks aboard the GPS satellites, using a built in 12 channel GPS receiver and an included L1 GPS antenna. It then broadcasts this time via NTP (Network Time Protocol) to all clients on the network that are capable of receiving and utilizing an NTP signal. In order to receive an NTP signal, each device on the network must have NTP capable client software. A list of such clients for various operating systems is available at the TrueTime site. Other features of the NTS-150 include support for both telnet and FTP, allowing for remote management and upgrades of the unit firmware via a built-in RS232 Serial port. The unit also includes support for SNMP with MIB II for co-existance with network management systems, and utilizes the MD5 security protocol to authenticate communications with client devices. The NTS-150 joins the vendor's existing NTS-200 and TimeVault time servers. Additional capabilities of the NTS-200 and TimeVault include a browser based (HTTP) management interface, and a front keypad/display allowing for configuration without having to rely on the serial port connection. The NTS-150 is expected to be available before the end of May, with a retail price starting at $2,395. Contact TrueTime for further information. product submission by DPW Staff Suggest a link
