The MS360 is the latest hand-held scanner from Unitech and is designed to capture high-quality images and read both one- and two-dimensional (1D and 2D) barcodes in markets including the industrial, shipping/receiving, postal, document processing and insurance sectors. The scanner is designed for long-lasting use in industrial environments.

Symagery's SX5000 image reading system is ideally suited to the functional requirements of Unitech's MS360 as it provides the required components for image capture and decoding both linear 1D and 2D barcode symbologies. Based on the Symagery CMOS megapixel image sensor, the system comprises an imager engine, decoder board and application software. With a compact, industry standard form factor, the SX5000 series is designed for integration into most existing hand-held devices, portable data terminals, and other OEM devices.

The SX5000's bar code decoding software provides omni-directional barcode reading and selectable symbology recognition. Unitech takes advantage of the highly customizable features of the application software, offering its customers the ability to read multiple bar codes, including standard 1D bar codes and postal codes as well as more complex 2D images such as DataMatrix and PDF417 symbologies.

In addition, the MS360 uses the Symagery engine to provide mega pixel image-capture functionality, allowing customers in sectors such as the insurance industry to easily take high-quality pictures of, for example, damaged goods.
