I'm InTouch / I'm OnCall

Remote Access To A Personal Computer

01 Communique offers tools facilitating remote access to a PC through the Internet. Among their current offerings are I'm InTouch, and I'm OnCall.

From any Internet enabled computer or wireless device, I'm InTouch allows you to login to your PC back at the office. You can access your E-mails, attachments, calendar, contacts, and PC files. No synchronization of information is required with I'm InTouch; this is real-time access to your always-on computer over the Internet.

No firewall changes are required, thereby maintaining your existing security settings.

Features of I'm InTouch include:

- Full viewing and control of your host PC's desktop from any other PC or Pocket PC device

- File transfer feature to move files on your local and network drives to and from your home/office PCs

- Remote Printing allows you to print files on your remote PC to the local printer

- Direct login to Outlook or files so that users from lower bandwidths can check E-mail/retrieve files without having to navigate full desktop

- Access to files and E-mail from any wireless device with an Internet browser

- Notification on your wireless device of E-mails received at your desktop

- Guest access allows you to invite up to 10 people to share your desktop

- 128 bit SSL end to end data encryption used during all remote access sessions

New to the vendor's product line is a Premium version of I'm InTouch, which features centralized management and a Remote Wake-Up feature to remotely turn PCs on when you need access and shut them down when you are finished.

I'm OnCall is a Web based service that, according to the vendor, enables help desk operators to take authorized remote control of a customer's PC within seconds of their customer's call for help. Upon receiving the customer's call, the technician logs into I'm OnCall and requests permission from the customer to remotely access their PC. If the customer grants authorization, I'm OnCall auto configures a secure connection between the two PCs, without requiring any pre-installed software.

With I'm OnCall, help desk operators can:

- Log in from any Web browser

- Display the company's logo on all user screens

- Present the technician's photo to customers

- Remotely control their customer's PC with the customer's authorization

- Transfer files and patches for upgrades and maintenance

- Reboot the customer's PC and automatically reconnect the remote session

- Record customer problems and issues taken to resolve them

- View full Incident tracking and history

For security, each I'm OnCall session uses 128-bit SSL encryption.
