HOB RD VPN

Browser-Based Remote Access to Windows Servers

HOB RD VPN (Remote Desktop Virtual Private Network) is a software suite providing remote access from almost any client machine (Windows, Linux, UNIX, Mac OS X) to applications residing on a Windows Terminal Server, Server Farm, Blade Center, etc. HOB RD VPN is a pure software solution (not an appliance).

On the client side, only a Java-enabled browser is required. On the server side, the requirements differ depending on the deployment scenario: for Windows Terminal Server connectivity, Windows 2000 Server, Advanced Server, Datacenter Server, and Microsoft Windows Terminal Server 2003 are all supported. For Blade center connectivity, Microsoft Windows XP Professional is supported.

HOB RD VPN connects the client to the desired server system via RDP, TCP/IP and SSL. The level of SSL-encryption is flexible, and can be set by the system administrator to the desired strength. The following cryptographic algorithms are supported: RC2 (40-bit), RC4 (40-bit or 128-bit), DES, (40-bit or 56-bit), 3DES (3 keys of 56 bits ea., effective key length of 112 bits), and AES, with a key length of up to 256 bits. Authentication via tokens, among other methods, is also supported.

Printing functions, such as Local Print (print locally or over a network with the driver on the WTS), Easy Print (print on locally available printers with the local driver), LPR/LPD print, and more, including bandwidth management are included.

The component HOB EA (Enterprise Access) Administration is a user management tool for central management of users, groups or proxies. This user data can be administrated either directly in the Enterprise Access Database, or, using HOB EA Administration's LDAP interface, in directory services such as Microsoft Active Directory.
