Mobile AppBuilder

Create Wireless Apps That Access Enterprise DBs

Mobile AppBuilder is an application-building tool designed for non-programmers that facilitates the creation of applications for wireless devices, applications that access and integrate with Enterprise databases. According to the vendor, no actual coding is required, nor is knowledge of the underlying technologies, including database access, wireless communication, screen generation, etc. Mobile AppBuilder supports Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Access.

To create an application, the user first uses a "browse" feature to locate the enterprise database they wish to interact with, with Mobile AppBuilder automatically creating the application's display and data mapping and presenting the available field names to the user. The user then chooses those fields that will appear on each PDA screen; predefined PDA screens are available matching four general screen uses, including search and display, data capture, credentials, and photos. Individual field labels can also be modified, as can field sequence and the setting of read-only attributes.

After the screens are designed, Mobile AppBuilder generates the application for deployment to the device (Pocket PC or Windows 2000/XP). This application can be deployed to the device by the user by copying the generated CAB and clicking it for self-installation. Alternately, when used in conjunction with the vendor's ZeoSphere XR platform, the application can be centrally deployed to multiple devices.

The wireless application leverages the vendors ZeoSphere XR Server, which is installed on the device and provides connectivity both to the enterprise DB and other devices themselves. Both online and offline usage of the deployed application is supported; when used offline, data can later be synchronized with the main DB using Microsoft ActiveSync.

Mobile AppBuilder is served in two flavors: An Entry Edition, which is targeted to individuals or businesses; and a Professional Edition, targeted to solution providers. The Professional Edition adds features such as branding for the deployed applications, multiple enterprise DB support, and runtime license distribution.

Mobile AppBuilder is available now. Contact Zeosoft Technology Group for further information.
