GWAVA is an E-mail monitoring and security tool designed specifically for use in Novell GroupWise environments. GWAVA works from within GroupWise itself, utilizing the GroupWise APIs, and provides E-mail monitoring, anti-spam, and anti-virus protection features. GWAVA is able to scan both MTA traffic and the entire Post Office Message Store.
Key features and capabilities of GWAVA include: - Policy monitoring: via the ability to search specific user E-mails or the entire message store for specific characteristics, including user address, keywords, attachments, and more. - Archiving/retention: Capture and retain E-mail--based on specified characteristics--in an exportable database format. - Anti-virus: GWAVA can use up to three external A/V products simultaneously to scan both in and outbound E-mails for viruses. Supported vendors include Command, McAfee, Symantec, Sophos, CA eTrust, Panda, Kaspersky, Trend and Norman. - Anti-Spam: Via the product's "SmartBlocker" technology. SmartBlocker "teaches" itself the difference between good E-mail and spam, by allowing you to feed it known ham and spam messages. You can also define new rules, and suggest a best score for them. - Reporting and logging: Template based reports detailing such information as the percentage of E-mail labeled as spam, and number of viruses blocked can be generated on a scheduled basis. CSV logs can also be generated, and the vendor notes that "other formats such as XML are possible as well." New in the latest version of GWAVA: - An anti-spam digest feature that allows for the sending of a single E-mail with a summary list of spam messages to end users, with the end user able to release a spam E-mail without administrator intervention. - Support for SURBL anti-spam technology GWAVA is available now.
