Voltage SecureMail

Encrypted E-mail Transmissions To Any End User

Voltage SecureMail allows for the encryption and sending of E-mails to any recipient. Recipients that are using compatible E-mail clients (Outlook, Lotus) can download a specific SecureMail client for their platform in order to decrypt and view the received E-mail; while all others can make use of an HTML (browser-based) attachment that accompanies each encrypted E-mail message and provides for the decryption of the message via SSL protected transmissions. The actual E-mail message is delivered to and remains in the user's inbox. While recipient users needn't be pre-enrolled in order to send them a secure E-mail, they will be required to authenticate themselves to the sending company's SecureMail server when they first receive an encrypted E-mail.

When receiving an encrypted SecureMail transmission for the first time, users are instructed to download the SecureMail client and then authenticate themselves via the sending company's SecureMail server (a "Zero download" client, which is entirely Web-based, is also available). Voltage Security states that multiple authentication methodologies are possible. Once authenticated, the recipient can download to their machine the private key required by the client in order to decrypt the sent message. The public key used to encrypt the message is the recipient's E-mail address itself. From that point on, recipients with supported E-mail clients are able to view the decrypted message online or offline at their leisure.

Multiple deployment options are available for the platform:

- The SecureMail Gateway provides gateway-based automated encryption of E-mails based on corporate-defined policies. The Gateway is also able to work in concert with the E-mail clients; allowing for the decryption and automatic re-encryption of E-mails such that other gateway-based tools (anti-virus, anti-spam, filters, etc.) can still be used against the decrypted contents of the message

- The SecureMail Client (Outlook, Lotus) provides end-to-end encryption capabilties; allowing desktop users to activate the encryption directly from their desktop E-mail clients

- The Anti-Phishing module links the recipient's E-mail to a unique image, allowing the user to positively identify the sender's server prior to providing their authentication information

- The BlackBerry Enterprise Server add-on allows Voltage SecureMail customers to use BlackBerry to send and receive encrypted E-mail transmissions

- The Voltage SecureMail Archive Connector automatically decrypts E-mails when they are sent to Symantec's Enterprise Vault

For onsite deployments (vendor-hosted/SaaS-based purchases are also available), the organization purchases an appliance which houses the SecureMail Gateway, the Key Management Server, as well as supports "Zero Download" processing.

Other platform components and options include the Voltage SecureMail Statement Generator Service (for automated creation of encrypted E-mails), the Voltage Large Attachment Delivery Module (allows for the bypassing of size restrictions in receiving systems; if a large message is restricted due to size on the receiving system it is automatically sent as an attachment and stored on the sender's server for retrieval; with the vendor noting that retrieval is transparent); the Voltage SecureMail eDiscovery Compliance Tool (automated decryption of messages for discovery), and the Voltage SecureFile Encryption Client (allows for the file-level encryption of individual files).

The eDiscovery Compliance Tool, Large Attachment Delivery Module, Archive Connector, SecureFile Encryption Client, Anti-Phishing Module, and Statement Generation Module are all new components of the latest SecureMail release.

Voltage SecureMail is available now; pricing starts at $55,000 for single data center deployments (a vendor hosted SaaS version is also available). Contact Voltage Security for further information.
