ADvantage is an Active Directory management platform targeted to administrators and their personnel. It allows administrators to perform filtered reporting of existing Active Directory information and bulk application of directory modifications, as well as create customized configurations for the tools that can be deployed for use by designated individuals such as help-desk personnel. These customized configurations can be specially designed by the administrator to allow only selected operations (including, for example, the ability to lock-out or mark certain fields as "required" when performing a designated operation), and the specialized configurations themselves can be launched from the desktop.

Bulk features and processing includes adding, deleting, modifying, or search-and-replace operations, and can be applied to selected sets of users, groups, contacts, Access Control Lists, or, in the latest version of ADvantage, computer accounts. Account lists can be imported for processing from both external files (CSV) and ADvantage's own reporting tool; i.e., reports generated by the ADvantage tool can be imported and read as selected accounts for the other bulk tools. The reporting tool includes both pre-defined report formats as well as customization features (header, footer, title, columns, etc.) as well as filters allowing for the selection of specific accounts to appear on the reports. Report data can also be exported as CSV files, and, in the latest ADvantage release, account data can be imported from external files for reporting, as well (as opposed to filtered lists based on the entire OU or Domain).

Other key features of ADvantage include the ability to schedule tasks, either for recurring use (such as weekly reports) or for off-peak execution times; an audit log allowing for the review of directory changes made with the tools; the ability to add or configure Exchange E-mail boxes; and a simulation mode that allows for the "testing" of designated input prior to its actual application to the directory.

ADvantage is available now, both as a unified collection of tools as described above, or as specific, individual tools. Dubbed "ADvantage Elements," the individual tools include: ADreporter, ADusers, ADgroups, ADsearch, and ADcontacts.
