WebDir

Web-Based Directory Management Tool

WebDir is a Web-based tool providing an Internet-accessible browser interface that allows for the updating of user directory information; either MS Exchange or Active Directory. WebDir can be utilized by administrators to perform maintenance tasks such as password resets and modify users or groups, and can additionally allows end users to update and modify their own information directly (via self-service capabilities). Earlier versions of WebDir required that Exchange be installed in order to modify Active Directory entries; however, later releases (3.1+) remove this restriction and allow Active Directory entries to be managed without requiring an Exchange installation.

Key features of the utility include:

- Users can be allowed to update their own directory information, including creating, deleting, and managing their own groups and subscribing/unsubscribing to groups. A phonebook access feature allows either anonymous or authenticated read-only directory access

- Notification tools allow administrators to be notified via E-mail when directory objects are changed via WebDir

- Automatic localization, via auto-detection of the accessing browser's language

- Administrators can differentiate between those who have administrator access vs. those with help desk access

- Customization capabilities allows administrators to configure which fields are made available for updating via an XML file

- The approval feature allows for requested user changes to first be routed to designated individuals for final approval before implementation

- An entire Active Directory "forest" (multi-domains) can be managed with a single WebDir Virtual server. WebDir allows all users within the forest to manage objects existing in separate domains

New features in the latest WebDir release include dynamic schema detection, customized functionality modes, Sharepoint integration support, double-byte language internationalization and cross-forest support.

WebDir is available now. Contact Imanami for further information.
