Anti-Executable

Blocks Unknown Applications From Launching

As its name suggests, Anti-Executable loads on Windows (XP/2003/Vista) machines and prevents unrecognized executable files from being launched on that machine.

A whitelist-based platform, the basic operation of Anti-Executable is to block all programs that are not listed in its currently active white list. The program includes the ability to scan the current workstation for its existing applications (those with an extension of .scr, .jar, .bat, .com, or .exe) towards the automatic creation of an initial whitelist; and additionally includes tools for the manual addition, deletion, and modification of specified files and folders to the whitelist. Each application in the whitelist can also be marked as "Trusted," which enables it (the application) to launch other applications which are not themselves on the whitelist.

Anti-Executable is available in two flavors: The Standard Version; and the Enterprise version, which adds centralized control and management features.

The Enterprise version, in particular, consists of two primary installed components. The "Core Console" is the central component, and itself is a modular tool that allows for the management of all of the vendor's tools. An "Anti-Executable Loadin" is installed into this console to enable the Anti-Executable specific features. Features available from AE Enterprise include central scheduling, deployment, management and control; including the ability to activate/deactivate the product on one or selected workstations, centrally log violation attempts, and schedule automated actions for workstations (including the application of specific white lists). The console communicates/interacts with the workstations by way of an administrator level account that is valid for the workstation itself.

New features of the latest Anti-Executable release include support for multiple white lists including import/export features, customizable white list enforcement based on user levels, and support for "White Folders," allowing CD-ROMs, USB and Network drives to be exempt from Anti-Executable protection.

Anti-Executable is available now; pricing begins at $382.56 for a 10 workstation license to Anti-Executable Standard ($660.36 for AE Enterprise), which includes a year of maintenance (required).
